Pelham Mews
Built, as the name implies, for the servicing of horses. House and attached livery stables (in the courtyard through the arch). Early 19th century, Listed Grade II. The painted sign is an exceptional survivor. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3118058

Pelham Mews, painted sign
A remarkably intact survivor, almost certainly not later than the First World War, and probably older. Listed Grade II.

Pelham Street, looking towards Victoria Street
The nearest house dates from the early 19th century and is Listed Grade II. At some point since the original 1992 listing, some plain sashes and casement windows have been replaced with more authentic glazing bar sashes.

Cooper's Dressing Gown Factory
This was the only significant textiles related factory in Newark; Cooper's manufactured a range of garments although the quilted dressing gowns were the most famous. Business started deteriorating in the economic downturn of the early 1970s, not helped by a serious fire in 1973, and the firm closed at the end of 1975. Since then the buildings have been occupied by small firms. The tall building originally had a hipped roof which was lost in the fire.

Newark: Pelham Street
A fine painted survival from the far-off days when signs had full-stops shows the building's former use: "Pelham Mews. Robert Davis. Horse Dealer & Breaker. Horses & Traps for Hire."
