Plaque to Donald Wolfit
On left hand side of frontage to 8 London Road, Balderton. Sir Donald Wolfit CBE, born Donald Woolfitt, known for his wartime touring Shakesperean plays. His older brother Philip was a casualty of WW1 at the age of 19 and has a grave in Newark cemetery.

Entrance to Highfields School
On the north side of London Road, the independent school is housed in a much extended 19th century country house, set in 14 acres of parkland with an attractive entrance lodge. Takes children from three years old and claims to be the only independent school in Nottinghamshire which actively prepares children for the 11+ examination.
