Appletongate, Newark, Notts.
This northerly view along Appletongate was taken from the front of The Palace Theatre. Beyond Marriotts cycle shop on the corner of this cul-de-sac, lies Newark College's School of Piano in the Appletongate Building. The Piano School is a centre of excellence for piano tuning, restoration and repair offering education for those who wish to work in the piano industry as a tuner or technician. This school's programme is reportedly recognised as the only one of its kind in the UK and its students are said to be valued worldwide.

Palace Theatre, Appleton Gate, Newark-on-Trent
Dated 1920. Quite a lot of jolly plasterwork and funny little onion domes atop thin towers. Grade II listed. The colour scheme has changed since 2006: Image There can't be too many towns of Newark's size (25,000 population) with a theatre.
