Water Lane, Off Northgate, Newark, Notts.
This former telephone exchange and works yard dates from 1938. It now houses a cluster of business offices. The B6166 (Northgate) lies a dozen paces away on the right, whereas to the left, a footpath links the closed end of this cul-de-sac to a path that runs parallel with the River Trent.

Office building, Northgate
A restrained example of late 19th century terracotta decoration which is a bit out of place among the more traditional earlier buildings along the road. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3057641

38 North Gate, Newark-on-Trent
Not large but a grand composition of dignified three-bay centre and wings. Late C18th, the wings perhaps a little later (why aren't they symmetrical?) Grade II listed.
The building now plays host to the Northgate Business Centre.
