Newark, Notts (Bar Gate)
A slight tailback on Bar Gate as this authentic looking bow top gypsy caravan approaches Castle Gate roundabout. The Wharf, a short cut between Bar Gate and Beast Market Hill - that passes the rear of "The Ossington" (the former Coffee Palace & Temperance Hotel replica) - can be seen behind the horse's head.

The Ossington Building, Beastmarket Hill, Newark, Notts.
The rear of the former Ossington Coffee Palace. This Grade II-listed building dates back to c.1881 when Charlotte, Viscountess Ossington, proposed the establishment of a coffee tavern as a Temperance Movement strategy. Since then the building has been used as stables, a hotel and a base for military purposes during both WWI and WWII. It now provides restaurant and residential accommodation.
