3 Middle Gate, Newark-on-Trent
A stately mid-Georgian house of five bays, the central three projecting slightly under a pediment. Good pedimented Doric doorcase. Built c1780. Grade II listed. Now offices of solicitors, Tallents.

The Old Post Office
Despite the depiction of a Victorian penny black stamp, the building is Edwardian, dating from 1907 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3116401. Now a public house. The current Post Office http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3123333 is much less imposing. (A classic example of 'which square does this belong to?' The gridline passes through the facade, most of which is in the next square, then exits the picture near the bottom right hand corner. Conversely, the linked detail shot crosses the gridline in the opposite direction)

22-24 Kirkgate
Grade II listed, late 15th century, jettied timber-framed houses on the corner of Kirkgate and Middlegate. The timbers have been dated by dendrochronolgy to 1337. It was a butcher's shop for many years, latterly Country Scene, now closed and boarded up.

Former Boar's Head
Former pub on the corner of Kirkgate and Middlegate dated 1883, though there was an inn on this site in 1778. It closed in 1959 and is now a bookmakers and offices.
