The use of stone for the lowest parts of the building is not unusual in older houses in Collingham but the use of stone for a complete wall is most unusual.

This view shows two of Collingham's older buildings - One Acre (nearest) and the Old House. Both are partly constructed using blue lias stone. Between them runs Westfield Lane which links Collingham with the Trent.
