Curious house by the river
A curious house overlooking the river Trent by the Muskham Ferry Inn. Although it appears to have three storeys, the three windows 'on the top floor' (and the window above the doorway), are fake and seem to be painted onto the walls.

The Muskham Ferry
A pub in North Muskham on the west side of the river. As its name implies there used to be a ferry here, crossing to Holme. Before that, and before the river changed its course, the two villages were on the same side of the river. The pub looked tempting, but we have a rendezvous in Newark and it is starting to get dark.

The Muskham Ferry at North Muskham
Sadly, there's no longer a ferry so it's a long way round via Newark or Dunham Bridge. In much older times the Trent was wider here, possibly wide enough to ford between islands.

Snowy day at the Muskham Ferry
Looking east across the Trent and the snow-covered tables at the Ferry. Not many al fresco diners today.
