Boughton Pumping Station, main pump house (Blackburn House)
The boiler house.
The pumping station was built in 1905 for the Nottingham Corporation Water Works. The main pump house housed two Manhattan-type triple-expansion steam engines from Ashton Frost of Blackburn, together with the boiler house and workshop. After decommissioning in 1980, it suffered mining subsidence before restoration in the 1990s to become offices and a function venue. Now named Blackburn House to reflect the provenance of the engines. Listed Grade II.

Blackburn House, Boughton
This former water pumping station is now a wedding/conference facility. It is an impressive building, opened as a pumping station in 1904 and still featuring many original features. It has been very tastefully upgraded for use as a meeting centre, including accommodation. Fabulous building, great facilities and very well maintained grounds.

Boughton Pumping Station
This is part of the facade of the main engine house that held a pair of Ashton, Frost triple expansion engines with both horizontal (HP) and inverted vertical cylinders (IP and LP). These were scrapped in the 1970s. The green beam is (I think) part of the support structure for the well pump bell-crank assembly.
A modern fence prevents a view from further away and without a fish-eye this was the best I could do.

Boughton Pumping Station
This is the smaller 'standby station' that had a Hathorn, Davey horizontal tandem compound 'differential' pump and an inverted vertical triple expansion pump. Beyond can be glimpsed the huge pumping station that housed a pair of triple expansion engines with horizontal high pressure cylinders and inverted vertical intermediate and low pressure cylinders. These were built by Ashton, Frost of Blackburn and scrapped in the 1970s.
