The Old School House, Newark Rd, Tuxford
This old village school was built in 1830 alongside what was then the Great North Road. It was the village school for mixed infants and girls up to 11 years. The building ceased this function in 1877 when its Victorian replacement was built across the road. It is now a private home.

The Old School House, Newark Road, Tuxford
Early 19th century school and house, the outer wings housing the schoolrooms and the central building providing domestic accommodation for the schoolmaster. The windows have Gothick style glazing bars. Listed Grade II.

Read Grammar School (now library) Tuxford, Nottinghamshire
This magnificent building, situated opposite the church, now houses a branch of the County Library. The Read Grammar School was endowed by Charles Read in 1669.

Newark Road, Tuxford
Formerly the Great North Road and the route by which London-bound traffic would have left the little town, this road is now reduced, effectively, to the northbound exit slip-road of the A1: traffic heading south can no longer gain access to the main road.
