Kirkwhite Walk and the sporting story pole
Before the rebuilding of The Meadows in the 1970s, this was Kirkwhite Street. The story pole celebrates Nottingham sporting achievements. The Nottinghamshire cricketer Arthur Shrewsbury shows clearly on this side of it. Admired by W G Grace, he is buried in Gedling churchyard: see Image

A reminder of the Borough
The iron railings round Queen's Walk Recreation Ground are topped by fleurs-de-lys and shields with the ragged cross and three crowns of the Borough of Nottingham. The red shield became the centrepiece of the Nottingham coat of arms after city status was conferred in 1897.

Owl Sculpture, Queens Walk Recreation Ground
Although trees felled as part of the new tramway development have been earmarked for tree sculptures, this one appears to have been created from a tree already in situ.

Meadows Centre tram stop: story pole 6 - Friendship
I imagine the lime-wood pole represents hands of friendship in a tight-knit community. In the background to the right is the northbound platform of the nearly-complete Meadows Centre tram stop, to the left houses dating from the rebuilding of The Meadows in the 1970s.
