Edwinstowe Hall (also known locally as the Big House) is a Grade II listed building. The earliest record of Edwinstowe Hall is dated 1740, though the bulk of the current building is of late 17th to late 18th Century construction. Edwinstowe Hall is currently in use with Nottinghamshire County Council as a Children’s Respite Centre. Following a review of the service provision, it became apparent that Edwinstowe Hall was no longer fit for purpose and would cost over £1M to upgrade for the modern service requirements that it needs to support. However the Hall’s location in the centre of the county and its large outdoor space are of particular importance to the service currently provided. A project was therefore initiated in May 2012 to construct a new purpose designed two-storey respite centre for children within the garden area of the Hall. Once this project is complete, it is the intention of the County Council to offer Edwinstowe Hall and its remaining grounds for sale to parties more suited to the particular requirements of the historic building in an effort to make its future more secure. The County Council has maintained Edwinstowe Hall to a standard that ensures that the building is weather tight and in a basically sound condition and will continue to do this whilst the Hall is within its ownership. The church tower has elements from the 12th and 13th centuries, while the spire is the result of a 19th-century rebuilding.

Probably the busiest crossroads in Edwinstowe. The red car has crossed the A6075, i.e. the principal road between Ollerton, on the left and Mansfield Woodhouse to the right. Ahead is the northern end of High Street. "Forest Lodge" on this side of the traffic signals and "The Royal Oak" on the other side, with the faux Tudor external beams, are both public hostelries.
