Between Portland and Devonshire Streets
A traditional terrace 'backs', although the roadway is wider than was often provided. This pair of streets was developed in the early 1900s and they are noticeably closer than the older development of Crompton, Verney and Stanton Streets, so that the houses have considerably smaller gardens.

New Houghton - Millennium Green
This public open space contains a pit head wheel, as a reminder of New Houghton's mining past. Most of the village's men worked at the nearby Pleasley Pit (closed in 1983).
