Early arrivals at The John Fretwell Sporting Complex, home of Welbeck Colliery CC, where Nottinghamshire were playing Derbyshire in the One Day Cup. The field was later full, and it took a while to get away at the end of the match.

Welbeck CC: at the Scoreboard End
The seats round the boundary and on the grass banks were filling rapidly in the hour before the Nottinghamshire-Northamptonshire One Day Cup match began, on a perfect May day (the result, alas, was not perfect as far as most spectators were concerned). The sightscreen is black as white balls are used in limited-overs cricket.

Cakes and cricket
Nottinghamshire's One Day Cup match against Derbyshire was held at the home of Welbeck Colliery CC, the John Fretwell Sporting Complex at Sookholme. Even before the match began at 11 o'clock the tea-and-cakes tent was doing a roaring trade (deservedly: the Victoria sponge was excellent).

Sookholme, Notts.
The rear (Sookholme Road-facing) elevation of the barn of Hall Farm provides a site for the hamlet's post box and community noticeboard. Since there is currently an immense amount of strong 'local' feeling against a proposal to create a solar energy farm in a field off Sookholme Road, near to a number of 'listed' buildings - including this one and St Augustine's Church - the noticeboard was dominated by posters protesting about this proposal.
