Sandstone outcrop
Strictly speaking probably not an outcrop, as it bears clear signs of having been worked. Presumably formed when the railway line was cut through here, it now forms a barrier between the path and the former workings on the other side.

Sherwood Oaks Business Park, evidently with a great deal of undeveloped space remaining, is seen from the route of the Old Newark Road (a track at this point).

Ransom Wood, Mansfield, Notts.
A former hospital drive entrance can be seen beyond the barrier. From 1902 this site housed The Sherwood Forest Sanatorium (later changed to Ransom Sanatorium as a memorial to its first Physician Superintendent). After ceasing to function as a unit for clients with learning difficulties in 1976, it was renovated and became The Ransom Wood Business Park.
