Swingate: once The Queen Adelaide
I have clear childhood memories, from the 1950s, of the pub's name painted in big white letters on its slate roof, something Kimberley Brewery was fond of. It has recently become a house and its windows have been altered. New houses have been built on its car park (offstage left). According to the Ilkcam website it was originally a lace factory, built in 1816, became a pub in the 1870s and was acquired by Hanson's in 1891. Alan Murray-Rust photographed the pub in November 2007: Image

The White Lion
News reports in November 2021 said that the pub is permanently closed and will be put up for sale, though four months later there is no external indication of its current status.
