St Barnabas and a bus trip
A W N Pugin's St Barnabas Roman Catholic Cathedral on Derby Road, seen along Vernon Street from Wollaton Street. The Mackem visitors from Hetton-le-Hole waiting to leave the Strathdon Hotel were not having a very sunny tour on the coldest August day for forty years.

View of the subterranean pedestrian tunnel connecting the city centre stretch of Derby Road (A610) and the Tennis Mews cluster of houses (off Tennis Drive, NG7). Here the open-air section of the tunnel can be seen - with a set of steps hugging the wall - prior to it plunging under Upper College Road in the direction of the city centre.

The Tunnel, Park Estate, Nottingham
Part of Thomas Hine's comprehensive design for the development of the Park Estate, providing access for carriages to Derby Road. Completed in 1855. This is the central light shaft, complete with staircase access – not always open. Listed Grade II.
