A large late Victorian roadside hotel. There had been a coaching inn on the site from about the 17th century. The name is derived from a hunting lodge which may have been on the site.

Bus layby outside Newstead Abbey gates, Ravenshead
This layby appears to have been constructed to enable it to be used as a turning circle for buses approaching from either Mansfield or Nottingham, although in practice it is only used by buses on their way from Nottingham to Mansfield.
