201 at Butlers Hill
A Hucknall bound tram departs from Butlers Hill. 201 was the first of Nottingham's new trams. The choice of fleet number was made to provide continuity with the old electric tram fleet, which just reached the number 200, and ceased operation in 1936. This was continuing the tradition set by Croydon Tramlink, where the new trams continued the old series used by London Transport.

Level crossing at Butlers Hill
Level crossings on the tramway are complicated by the parallel running to the railway, which has to maintain a stricter set of requirements than would have been necessary for the tram alone.

Butler's Hill railway station (site), Nottinghamshire
Opened in 1882 by the Great Northern Railway on the line from Nottingham (Victoria) and Colwick to Shirebrook, this station closed to passengers in 1931. The site was eventually redeveloped for housing. View south east towards Bestwood Colliery and Nottingham from a similar position to Image] taken some 53 years earlier. The Robin Hood railway line and NET tram tracks are behind the houses to the left and Butler's Hill tram stop is just beyond the houses in the distance.
