A614/Longdale Lane/Whinbush Lane Roundabout, Notts.
The Old Rufford Road/Ollerton Road can be seen ahead from a former railway bridge that once carried a branch line away from Calverton Colliery towards Nottingham. The colliery closed in 1999. This new (ish?) roundabout is also used by Longdale Lane traffic joining it from the left and traffic using Whinbush Lane on the right. Redhill on the northern outskirts of Nottingham can be reached 20 minutes or so from this former railway bridge, behind the photographer.

Bridge over the A614
Rather more overgrowth than this 2015 view https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4300402 although the time of year is partly responsible.
This is the former line to Calverton Colliery and has been suggested for conversion to a multi-user path.

Vicinity of A614/Longdale Lane Junction, Notts.
A westward view across a now defunct railway bridge over the A614 (Old Rufford Road). This was the course of a former Colliery branch line that once served the former Calverton Colliery. The colliery closed in 1999. This track can be joined and followed for a mile or so, although for the most part it is heavy on footwear and the ankles due to the nature of the rock surface. Also, it is overgrown in parts. Sansom Wood is a 15 minute walk away ahead of the photographer, where the track can be joined.

A view of the Old Rufford Road/Ollerton Road from a former railway bridge that once carried a branch line away from Calverton Colliery towards Nottingham. The colliery closed in 1999. A new (ish?) roundabout used by Longdale Lane traffic can be seen on the other side of this bridge. This road feeds into Redhill on the north of Nottingham.
