Stoke Lane bus plug
The traffic lights are triggered by the approach of buses. Note the elaborate cycle lanes which are technically necessary because even if the road was designated a bus-and-cycle way, cyclists would be unable to trigger the lights! There is a significant level of abuse, although there are periodic purges.

An ordinary cyclist
'Ordinary' was the general name at the end of the 19th century for what is now normally called a 'penny-farthing' bicycle. This is a modern version – readily available, but it will set you back well over £1000.

Stoke Lane bus plug approach
As part of the development of the new relief road, two bus only restrictions were implemented to prevent rat-running. The road layout means that the restrictions are routinely ignored.
