In good working order on the occasion of my visit (compare with https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1096961) . The sundial is of the equatorial type; it was unofficially unveiled on summer solstice day, June 21st 2000, and officially unveiled three days later.

The dial does not attempt to show a precise time, being marked with only 30 minute intervals, with the shadow of the gnomon spanning several minutes. My camera clock, which agrees with the time on my computer, times the taking of the picture at 1529 hrs BST.

Hiding the time – and the glare. In strong sunlight the dial is not easy to read because of the reflective nature of the metal.
