Ridge and furrow at Burton Joyce
Showing up in the low afternoon winter sunshine. It is perhaps surprising that this meadow alongside the Trent was cultivated as it would surely have been subject to regular flooding. The modern flood bank in the right half of the picture shows the extent to which high water is being allowed for in the modern age.

Stoke Lane level crossing, Burton Joyce
One of many level crossings between Nottingham and Newark, this one is at the east end of Burton Joyce station (see also Image). Immediately north of the railway line, Stoke Lane becomes Station Road.
