Station Farm, Barnstone
From Barnstone Lane, Station Farm looks as if it is only a solitary building ( http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/611166 ) and not many more as you approach along the footpath (Image). It isn't until you take a detour from the footpath that you get this view from the west which reveals how big the site actually is. The buildings on the hill in the distance are in Image

This river eventually flows into the River Smite at Whatton. This view is looking upstream. It isn't a very long river but is important as part of the land drainage system in this area.

Public Footpath near Barnstone (6)
The footpath from Barnstone crosses a deep ditch by a wide bridge made of sleepers, probably reclaimed from the dismantled railway, just off to the left of this photograph. The footpath itself crosses this field in front of the viewpoint heading for the gap in the hedge right of centre. Image is on the horizon. Looking upstream. The River Whipling is the major tributary of the River Simite which is a tributary of the River Devon, itself a tributary of the River Trent.
