Spa Well, Kinoulton
Marked on the maps as a chalybeate well, with a dedicated footpath to access it. It is clearly not regularly visited these days and is sufficiently overgrown that it was not even possible to see if there was any water issuing. W E Doubleday, writing in the Nottinghamshire Guardian (1946) states: "By 1769 Kinoulton was becoming famous for the medicinal quality of the water of a spring on the hill west of the village. Its chalybeate output, it was then said in a London newspaper, "is clear, pleasing, cooling, and a little saltish." Fifty years later, it was a reputable spa both for drinkers and bathers and bathing and dressing-room accommodation had been provided for patrons. As Spa Well, the spring still exists."

Cut and laid hedge and plantation, under a threatening sky
Gusts of 108 mph have hit Wales and a Met. Office Red Warning for hurricane force winds is in force, and a cold front is in the process of trundling through this area. All that in a winter that has been the wettest for about 200 years.

Hay Tor?
This crazy stack of bales is reminiscent of the jumbled stacks of rock of the Dartmoor Tors, like Hay Tor!
