North from Wilford Lane
A NET tram on its way to Wilford and on to the city centre. This section of the tramway runs parallel to the old Great Central Railway embankment, on the right. The Becket School is on the left and the straw-coloured grass dates this picture to the unusually hot and dry summer of 2018.

Wheat alongside the tramway
A solitary plant growing in waste soil from the tramway works. A long way from any arable fields, but presumably bird-carried. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4042288

Poppy alongside the tramway
Plenty of plain red poppies along this stretch, but this is clearly an escaped cultivar. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4042288

Spear Thistle (cirsium vulgare)
Growing on spoil from tramway works. Thistles aren't always a favourite plant, but the full flower is superb. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4042288
