Shops on Derby Road
Derby Road forms part of the A6005 as it leaves Long Eaton heading West (not surprisingly towards Derby). The shops are a mix of all-sorts.

Angled Shops
On Derby Road, Long Eaton. This is the same row as in Image, but from this direction you can see the curious design. While the shop fronts line the road and are parallel to it. The buildings are actually set at about a 45 degree angle and as a result are stepped back from each other. The same applies to the backs of them, as can be seen in Image

Bridge Street, Long Eaton
The Bridge presumably refers to the bridge over the Erewash Canal just to the east, which would have pre-dated this street by many years.

Bridge Mills - Long Eaton
Since this was taken the mill (which has latterly housed various upholstery and furniture companies) has been put up for sale. Whether in the current market anyone is willing to invest remains to be seen. A close-up of the panel high on the gable, which gives an insight into its former use can be seen here Image

Bridge Mills, Long Eaton
Commenced in 1902 this is one of the last of the tenement lace factories to be built. The chimney has a cast iron cap. The mills are three storeys with an attic and there are adjoining single storey buildings. Image]
