Whiteleys and West End Mills
Whiteleys (nearer the camera, built 1883) and West End (1882) were two of the large mills built to house tenant firms working in the lace industry. Wages in the area were lower than those in the centre of the industry in Nottingham, allowing smaller firms to compete with the larger ones there.
