Long Eaton Hall
A fine Palladian mansion house, built for the Howitt family in 1778 to the designs of the noted Derby based architect Joseph Pickford. The ornate entrance is almost identical to that of Pickford's own house at 41 Friar Gate, Derby - excepting the masonic frieze that appears on his own home. The hall is now the town hall and offices for the local council. Despite the obvious gardening work taking place, it is fair to say that the council are not the most sympathetic guardians of such a fine historic building.

Long Eaton Town Hall
Winter view through the trees in the gardens surrounding the house. The house was built in 1778 as Long Eaton Hall and is a classic three-storey square house of the period. It now forms the focus of the local Erewash Borough Council offices. Listed Grade II*.

Long Eaton Town Hall
Side view of Long Eaton Hall - now Long Eaton Town Hall - to the left is the public entrance to the Council offices in a modern steel and glass tube. A great example of how a building can be contemporary yet completely in keeping with an older neighbour. The unpretentious manner of the Hall helps quite a bit too!
