This road runs beside the hospital of the same name. The car park is on the right of the picture. The suburbs here were built after the last war, after the hospital was opened in 1948.

Entrance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead
This is the main hospital for Gateshead, located in the southern suburb of Sheriff Hill. The original hospital was opened by Queen Elizabeth herself in 1948. It has been much modernised of course in recent years. This is the entrance on the north side, off Queen Elizabeth Avenue.

A nice garden
On Queen Elizabeth Avenue, Sheriff Hill, Gateshead. Obviously keen gardeners live here. This is a post war suburb on the south side of the town, beside the hospital of the same name.
