The Metropole, High Street, Gateshead
Big Victorian pub, by William Hope, 1896. Two ornate gables, but the dark brick gives it a slightly dour look. On the up-side, as the sign advertises, it is open all day every day.
Originally it had a theatre too.

Cinema under construction, Gateshead High Street
The large building, part of the Tesco owned and anchored Trinity Square development in central Gateshead, is nearing completion. The building opened as a Vue cinema in December 2013.

High Street facade of Trinity Square, Gateshead
The High Street façade of the Tesco owned and anchored Trinity Square development which now occupies much of central Gateshead. A number of small to medium sized retail units face onto the street, a large 24hr Tesco Extra is above and accessed from the newly created Trinity Square. Above the supermarket (effectively on its roof) Tesco have built living accommodation for 1000 students.
