Claremont Place, Bensham
This terrace was built in the early part of the 19th century when it was on the very edge of Gateshead's built up area. Claremont Place is on the west side of Coatsworth Road, the neighbourhood's main shopping street.

Plaque for Emily Davies
This commemorates the Victorian feminist and founder of Girton College, Cambridge. Her father was the local vicar and they lived here in the rectory which once stood on this spot. Rectory Road, the street in the background, takes its name from the house.
