South East Tower, Chillingham Castle
The Great Hall was built between two towers, of which this is one, and over the ancient undercroft, especially for the royal visit of James VI of Scotland. The Castle is a Grade I Listed building.

Leaving Chillingham Castle
The open door might be a welcome sight for some... Chillingham Castle sells itself as one of the most haunted buildings in the land. Indeed, you can stay in the old dairy - itself the reputed haunt of many a ghost - if you feel you have the stomach.

The exterior building and Italian gardens are they impressive - the interior is quite a surprise - not because it is considered to be haunted, but nobody appears to have ever had a clear-out.
