Whittingham
Looking towards the village from the south. The three-storey building at the entrance to the village is the former Castle Inn of c1830, now a private house (see here for a closer view: Image).
Beyond is a pleasant patchwork of fields stretching away to the Cheviots.

Another one gone!
A further example of the decline of the British pub. This fine creeper-covered building on the edge of Whittingham village was once a pub, but is currently up for salee. The remaining local hostelry is the Bridge of Aln Image on the main road 2 Km from the village.

Fountain memorial in Whittingham
A one time drinking fountain now filled in ready for bedding plants. Dedicated to the memory of the Third Earl of Ravensworth. There are four inscriptions at the base of the column as follows:-
