Windfalls on the old embankment
This embankment was part of the Alnwick branch line from Alnmouth to Alnwick. The A1 bypassing Alnwick cut the embankment in two. The Aln Valley Railway runs from the A1 at the eastern end of this embankment heading towards Alnmouth. Trees have grown excessively on the top of this isolated embankment and were very vulnerable to Storm Arwen. This is (was) a public footpath but some major chain-sawing and timber removal will be required to clear it!
