Poppies at Woodhorn Museum, Ashington
The "Weeping Window" on display at Woodhorn Museum, Ashington. The artwork formed part of the "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red" installation which was created at the Tower of London in autumn 2014 as part of commemorations to mark 100 years since the start of the 1st World War. After the end of the temporary display in 2014 a large number of the ceramic poppies were sold off, however 2 large parts were preserved and are touring around the country. Whilst at the Tower of London the sculpture was sited under a window Image here it is sited under one of the winding wheels which were part of the former Woodhorn Colliery.
