Stannington Station House
Stannington Station (originally named Netherton Station) on the East Coast Main Line opened in 1847. It served passengers for over a hundred years until 1958; closed for goods in 1964. The substantial station house is now a private house, albeit the noise from passing trains must be considerable.

Stannington Station house
No trains stop now! It was opened in 1847 as Netherton, and closed in 1958.

Stannington Station
An impressive if rather forbidding Victorian station house with a less than elegant recent addition. This is still a very busy level crossing on the main line from London to Edinburgh but it is a long way from Stannington! For more see: Image
