Sign for Public Footpath
To Thorneyburn Station on the now defunct railway.
Thorneyburn railway station served the village of Thorneyburn, Northumberland, from 1861 to 1956 on the Border Counties Railway.
The footpath crosses an interesting suspension bridge over the River North Tyne.

Footpath near Lanehead
The arch just visible at the end of the wall is the end of a footbridge over the River North Tyne, built in 1862 to enable access to the Border Counties Railway. The railway was completely closed by the early 1960s.
Past the trees is Thorneyburn Fell.

Greystead Foot Bridge
The bridge, which has one span, was completed in 1862. It is a Grade II listed structure. It was intended to connect communities on the south bank of the river with Thorneyburn railway station on the north side.
