"Put out more flags!"
Haydon Bridge is one of the villages on the route of the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015. Stage 5 on September 10th runs from the start at Prudhoe in the Tyne Valley to the finish at the top of Hartside Pass. Like many communities along the way, Haydon Bridge is regarding the event as cause for a major celebration. Bunting and banners decorate Church Street just before the steep climb up Haydon Bank, one of the "King of the Mountains" climbs.

Haydon Bridge Station
Haydon Bridge is one of the many intermediate stations on the Newcastle to Carlisle line. Whilst the station itself has been 'modernised', this is a fine example of an early N.E.R signal box (1877) together with the traditional crossing gates. In January 2009 the crossing gates were replaced by full width barriers, but still operated from the signal box. See Image
