New sign for The Queen's Arms, Main Street

Some people think that the sign amounts to treason, especially as the chairman of the parish council, Major Charles Enderby, is a former member of the Queen’s ceremonial bodyguard. The pub's owner insists that the caricature was actually not based on the Queen, but on his late mother, who resembled the Queen. He said “My mum’s name was Betty, and her husband was called Phil, which explains the tattoo {see Image}. I have no idea whether the Queen has a tattoo, because I have never seen her arms. I would not do anything to cause offence to the Queen, because I am a royalist myself.”
