Prudhoe Station
Platform 2 at Prudhoe Station on the Newcastle upon Tyne to Carlisle line. The manually operated semaphore ‘starter’ signal protects the road crossing beyond the footbridge and is controlled from Prudhoe Signalbox, partly hidden in the shadows behind the Grade II Listed North Eastern Railway footbridge. The illuminated ticket machine on the left displays advertisements when not being used to purchase tickets.

Prudhoe railway station, Northumberland
Opened in 1835 by the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway, later part of the North Eastern Railway. View south west towards Mickley and Carlisle. The single storey main station building had been at the far end of the right-hand platform until demolition in 1973.

Northern Hexham to Whitby service at level crossing on west side of Prudhoe Station
The train is formed of diesel multiple units 158 851 and 156485. The building on the right hand side of the crossing is Prudhoe signal box which has an Ordnance Survey benchmark Image on its wall on the left hand side of the 'road closed' sign
