'Shatila Art', Tynemouth Metro Station
The graffiti-style, spray painted artwork was created by young Palestinian visitors from Shatila Refugee Camp in Beirut, Lebanon and their teachers, in July to August 2012, working with the North Tyneside artists, Faye Oliver and Anthony Downie. It forms part of the ongoing work of the Shatila Theatre Trust http://www.shatilatheatre.co.uk/ building cultural links between the north-east of England and the camp. http://www.thejournal.co.uk/news/north-east-news/palestinian-youngsters-enjoy-trip-north-4404716 http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/local-news/palestinian-refugee-children-make-art-1369053

Footbridge, Tynemouth Station
This Gothic style railway station, which was opened in July 1882 and is a Grade II* Listed building, was designed by William Bell for the North Eastern Railway Company. The main buildings are brick built with stone dressings and slate roofs. The principal feature of the station is undoubtedly the interior ironwork of the platform canopies and footbridge, the western stairs of which can be seen here. The arched canopies extend for about 200 yards, with ornamental spandrels and apex, supported on non-classical columns with foliated capitals.
