The Chain Locker Pub, North Shields
Sadly, only the shell of this once famous pub remains. There has been a pub on the site (opposite the entrance to the Ferry) since the early 19th century

The Porthole, North Shields
Next to the terminus of the Tyne Ferry that links North and South Shields. The place was packed to the rafters, even in the afternoon, as there was a live Jazz Band playing

Former 'Chain Locker' Public House, North Shields
The 'Chain Locker' Public House was rebuilt in 1905 by Newcastle Breweries to a design by the firm of Joseph Oswald and Son Image The old building has been cleverly retained in a new apartment development by North Court Developments Ltd.
