The End of the Road, Royal Quays, North Shields
The car park at the former Tyne Commission Quay, now known as Royal Quays. The car ferry moored on the River Tyne is the Danish ship 'Queen of Scandinavia', waiting to depart for Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen in Norway. The customs shed is through the blue doors behind the official wearing the yellow reflective coat.

Looking across Albert Edward Dock and Marina
Where timber used to be unloaded. Looking towards DFDS ferry terminal and quay for boats to Holland. In the late 1960s days there could be as many as 5 ferry vessels plying from here to Oslo and Bergen in Norway (3 leaving on summer Saturdays), plus Esbjerg in Denmark
