Point Pleasant Terrace
This little enclave is at the eastern end of Wallsend. It takes its name from an old hall which stood here until the 1930's. The houses were built for the workers of the nearby Wallsend Slipway & Engineering Company in the late 19th century. The end of the terrace was chopped off in the late 20th century when Hadrian Road was built through the area.

View of Hadrian Yard from the station
Looking south from the footbridge over the Metro at Hadrian Road Station to the offshore fabrication yard. This is a former shipyard which has had a succession of owners since the 1980's. Currently, it is being run by the Belgian steel firm Smulders. They took over in 2016 to fabricate the support structures (known as jackets) for offshore wind turbines. The ones which can be seen here are for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland. On the right can be seen the two gantry cranes and a large static jib crane used in the construction work.

South Terrace at Wallsend
Although these look like standard terraced houses at first glance, they are in facts flats. These are very typical late Victorian examples of the "Tyneside Flats". With one flat on each floor, they were a very economical method of housing the workers employed in the industries of 19th century Tyneside. The two front doors side by side are a big giveaway.
