This hand-painted sculpture is part of the 'Peter Rabbit: Tales of the Tyne Art Trail' the fourth interactive trail run by St Oswald's Hospice which aims to raise money for the charity. The sculptures are inspired by the books of Beatrix Potter and this particular work was painted by North Tyneside based illustrator Julie Fleming.

The Victory on the African War Memorial at Barras Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne. The memorial was erected 1908.

Dedicated to Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury murdered in 1170. It is an active church but does not have a parish.

Replacement of the paving on Barras Bridge outside St Thomas's Church on Barras Bridge. This is part of wider scheme to improve pedestrian, vehicle and cyclist spaces around the junction at the northern end of Northumberland Street.

The bronze statue of St George and the Dragon stands outside St Thomas’ Church. It was unveiled in 1924 and was dedicated “to the memory of the officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the VIth Territorial Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers who gave their lives” in the First World War. Following the Second World War, the memorial was also dedicated to the 43rd and 49th Battalions Royal Tank Regiment. The memorial is Grade II listed (List Entry Number: 1355210 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1355210 Historic England).

The top two lines of the inscription read: "TO THE MEMORY OF THE OFFICERS, NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICERS & MEN of the 6TH TERRIORIAL NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR" The third line (to the left) says: "To the Memory of All Ranks of The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers Who Gave Their Lives 1919-1968" and to the right: "To the Memory of All Ranks of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Who Gave Their Lives since its Formation in 1968" The pillar is inscribed: "43rd Bn Royal Tank Regt 1939-1945" The monument, with its statue of St George and the defeated dragon and its inscriptions says much of duty and sacrifice. This was a stormy day: before taking the photograph, I collected up and replaced the poppy wreaths scattered by the gale .... and I removed from the memorial into the nearby bin the carelessly-discarded barley-wine bottles, which say much of another side of life.
