This hand-painted sculpture is part of the 'Peter Rabbit: Tales of the Tyne Art Trail' the fourth interactive trail run by St Oswald's Hospice which aims to raise money for the charity. The sculptures are inspired by the books of Beatrix Potter and this particular work was painted by artist, illustrator and woodworker Bruce Parker.

Part of Fenwick's Christmas Window, an annual tradition which sees the department store devote their Northumberland Street frontage to an animated christmas themed display. Pictured here is the engine at the front of "The Reindeer Express", complete with a host of animated figures.

Hound's Tooth the Great North Snowdog was sponsored by the Fenwick's department store, hence its location on Northumberland Street outside their store. The Great North Snowdogs are sculptures which have been decorated by a variety of artists which were placed in various places around Tyne and Wear for a 10 week period in the autumn of 2016. Together the artworks formed a trail that had been created with the St Oswald's Hospice charity. At the conclusion of the trail's life the artworks were auctioned off with the profits going to St Oswald's Hospice.

The annual traditional Fenwick's Christmas Window display continued in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic. To help with the 'social distancing' of those taking a closer look the store put measures in place including barriers and store staff controlling access to the area directly in front of the window. The theme of the display for 2020 was The Wind in the Willows.

This strange building on Northumberland Street began life as a C19 domestic house. It was later transformed into a shop and is now sandwiched between taller, more recent buildings on the busy shopping street. This little gem has clung on amid its much bigger neighbours. Early C19th, but its tremendous display of pargetting was added in 1953 to commemorate the queen's coronation.

Christmas shoppers are braving a rare (for 2015) bout of snow fall to visit the shops of Northumberland Street. Part of Fenwicks Christmas Window, an annual tradition on Tyneside, can be seen in the shop window facing the street. This year's theme centred around a story of Santa and his sleigh crashing on the roof tops of central Newcastle.
