The Church is the oldest building in Whickham with parts dating back to the Norman period, although much restored after a disastrous fire in 1841. Not to be confused with the Catholic Church in Whickham which is also dedicated to St Mary.

The porch, St Mary the Virgin's Church
The Church is the oldest building in Whickham with parts dating back to the Norman period, although much restored after a disastrous fire in 1841. The porch and tower date from the 14th century. Note the sundial over the door. Not to be confused with the Catholic Church in Whickham which is also dedicated to St Mary.
