Hawthorn Terrace, Walbottle
The old Hexham Road is built on the line of Hadrian's Wall and sets a straight course down hill to cross the deep valley of Walbottle Dene (bridged) to the west. The vallum is in the fields on the left. Walbottle was spelt 'Wallbottle' on OS maps prior to 1930. The houses of Beverley Terrace are on the right and Image down the road on the left.

Old Milepost by the B6528, Hawthorn Terrace, North Walbottle
Metal post with attached metal plate by the B6528, in parish of Throckley (Newcastle Upon Tyne District), Hawthorn Terrace, North Walbottle, by junction to terrace at back, in footpath against wall at corner, on North side of road. Smith Patterson iron shield, erected by the Hexham turnpike trust in the 19th century. One plate broken and one plate lost.
