DNA DL90
Installation sculpture by Abigail Fallis, 2009 (DL90 is a model of supermarket trolley). There are apparently several (3?) versions of this work around the country, commissioned by Somerfields and designed to focus public attention on the muscular dystrophy campaign's work to fund scientific research into possible treatment and cures. This one is on display until 2014.

New sculpture, Central Square, Forth Street
A new sculpture has appeared in Central Square behind Central Station replacing the DNA double-helix arrangement of shopping trolleys, 'DNA DL90', which was always somewhat controversial Image The metal form of this new replacement reflects Sir Eduardo Paolozzi’s monolithic bronze sculpture, 'Vulcan' Image that was formerly in this location (the plaque in the garden wall can still be seen on the right). According to the local newspapers, 'Advocate' (a 20-ft high tower of bronze blocks appearing on the brink of collapse) was unveiled in Central Square, behind Newcastle Central Station, on 18th June 2014. It is by the American artist, Bruce Beasley Image 'DNA DL90' and 'The Vulcan' have been selected to feature among 10 sculptures on a £3m new sculpture trail in London called 'The Line', which will link Olympic Park with the O2 Arena.
